Immediately after the third FARA General Assembly, the FARA Secretariat is hard pressed to live up to the Assembly's expectations and recommendations. It is keen on sustaining the excitement and motivation generated in Entebbe, Uganda last June 2005. The Assembly gave all FARA¿s stakeholders an opportunity to contribute to FARA's future programmes, to exchange information on their programmes, and to seek synergies and new partnerships in African agricultural research for development. This approach was wholeheartedly endorsed in statements submitted to the General Assembly by the African Heads of States. They recognized that eradicating poverty and achieving sustainable agricultural development depends on establishing vibrant innovative agricultural and allied industries.
