Maurits van den Berg (1960) is Senior Policy Researcher Agriculture, at PBL the Netherlands Environmental Assessment Agency. He has wide experience in the development and application of novel approaches to assess agronomic, economic and environmental performance of (agricultural) land use systems at scales ranging from sub-field level to global level. He holds an MSc degree in Agricultural Sciences from Wageningen University (1986) and a Doctors degree (≈PhD) from Utrecht University (2000). His professional career so-far encompassed numerous research and university lecturing positions in Brazil, Mozambique, South Africa and The Netherlands. At PBL, he has been mainly involved in integrated assessments with a time horizon until 2030 or 2050, and with a global scope; often with special focus on developing countries.
