Fast growing economies are increasingly emerging also as dominant forces in global economic, social and environmental affairs. These economies represent the world¿s largest potential markets and trading partners, the source of much of both the world¿s natural and human resources and of major sustainability challenges and innovation.
Some of the dramatic successes in rapid development are illustrated in the examples from Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa (BRICS), all fast growing
economies where agricultural policies coupled with more intensive Agricultural Research for Development (ARD) have led to dramatic growth in the sector and support to their overall economies.
