The Global Forum on Agricultural Research (GFAR) is a recent dynamic initiative aiming to promote a global system for agricultural research based on cost-effective partnerships and strategic alliances among the key players involved in agricultural research for development (ARD). GFAR was officially established in October 1996 in Washington D.C., but became really operational during the second half of 1998.
