TAPipedia has just released a new Trainer's Manual on Facilitating Capacity Needs Assessment. This training manual was prepared under the EU-funded project CDAIS (Capacity Development for Agricultural Innovation Systems), a global partnership (Agrinatura, FAO and 8 pilot countries). The project aims to strengthen the capacity of countries and key stakeholders to innovate in complex agricultural systems, thereby achieving improved sustainable rural livelihoods.
The manual is a practical, peer-reviewed resource applied to train National Innovation Facilitators (NIFs) across all 8 pilot countries in Africa (Angola, Burkina Faso, Ethiopia and Rwanda), in Asia (Bangladesh and Laos), and Central America (Guatemala and Honduras) and incorporates the TAP Common Framework on Capacity Development (CD) for Agricultural Innovation Systems (AIS). The objective of the trainings was to strengthen the NIFs’ facilitation skills and their ability to carry out inclusive Capacity Needs Assessments (CNAs) in agricultural innovation niche partnerships.
The methods, tools and approaches in the manual are contextualized for agricultural innovation systems and are transferable to other thematic areas.

Read the wrap-up of the GFAR webinar “Agents of Change in Capacity Development for Agricultural Innovation: The Value of Facilitators”, held earlier in 2017 to share the hands-on experience of NIFs in assessing capacities and capacity development needs. The training material shared here was used to train NIFs in the countries concerned.
TAPipedia, developed within the context of Tropical Agriculture Platform (TAP), is an information sharing system designed to enhance knowledge exchange in support of Capacity Development (CD) for Agricultural Innovation Systems (AIS). TAPipedia aims to be a global information system for good CD practices, innovation outputs, success stories and lessons learned.
TAPipedia has been developed under the project “Capacity Development for Agricultural Innovation Systems (CDAIS)” jointly implemented by Agrinatura-EEIG and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) with the financial assistance of the European Union. The views expressed herein can in no way be taken to reflect the official opinion of the European Union and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations.
