aWhere’s Open Platform for Global Development offers a powerful tool for monitoring and evaluation automation, real-time collaboration and secure data management.  Through this platform, users can freely access localized weather data.  These weather data contribute to global development efforts in Africa and Asia; improving research and providing greater context in shaping policies relating to agricultural development and global health.

This August, the inclusion of satellite derived precipitation data from Colorado State University (CSU) will greatly enhance the rainfall data available through aWhere’s weather module. These data are uniquely valuable in that they have better temporal and spatial resolution than existing sources.  aWhere will incorporate these data into the platform alongside other key weather variables and in the same 5 arc minute resolution (9km grid cells). Regions where these free data are available include Eastern, Western and Southern Africa and South Asia.
