The National Center for Applied Research on Rural Development (FOFIFA) promotes agricultural research in Madagascar and focuses on crop, livestock, forestry, postharvest, and socioeconomic research. FOFIFA provides research in order to create an in-depth understanding of issues with direct relevance to various stakeholders in rural development. FOFIFA collaborates with regional and international research institutes and networks involved in rural development issues in Madagascar.
FOFIFA's main activities:
- conducting both thematic and applied research to improve agricultural productive systems in Madagascar as well as other countries in the region
- supporting sustainable development through technology transfer to stakeholders and the dissemination of the outcomes of applied research projects
- capacity building through introducing modern technology and necessary training of human resources.
