This side event will discuss the importance of measuring the quality of research partnerships in order to improve fair and equal collaboration among stakeholders and between actors involved in innovation, overcoming the asymmetries of power. GFAR together with the Swiss Academy of Science/Swiss Commission for Research Partnerships (KFPE), the Institute of Development Studies (IDS) and Prolinnova (Promoting Local Innovation in Agroecology Oriented Agriculture) has developed a set of criteria that define participatory research partnerships, and promotes them among its partners including CGIAR, Farmers Organizations, Civil Society Organisations.
The session will explain the potential for these criteria, if widely adopted, to constitute a global standard that could unlock the potential of co-research and co-innovation to contribute to the achievement of the SDGs.
