José J. Campos is director general of CATIE, an international organization for research, education and technical cooperation based in Costa Rica. He had previously served in various positions at CATIE: deputy director general, director of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment, director of the Forestry Department and director of the Latin American Chair on Forest Landscape Management. He has worked with the Swiss Development Cooperation Agency, international NGOs on integrated conservation and development projects, is a faculty member of the Graduate School of CATIE and adjunct professor at Laval University in Canada.
