Nahum Marbán-Mendoza obtained his Ph.D. in Entomology at the University of California, Davis of which one specialization for graduate work was Nematology. After graduation he took a position as Research Professor in the Post Graduate College located at the Autonomous University of Chapingo where he taught courses in nematology, plant pathology, and disease control for eight years.
In 1986 he accepted the position of Research Professor at CATIE in Turrialba, Costa Rica and served as Regional Nematologist in the Integrated Pest Management and Disease Control Program. In this institution besides teaching plant nematology, he collaborated in the IPM and plant disease control courses
From 1997 to the present, the crop protection graduate program he chairs it is part of the cadre of postgraduate excellence of CONACYT. At present he is reviewer and editor of the journal Agrociencia. From 2001-2006 he served as Vice President (Co-chair) of the Methyl Bromide Technical Optional Committee
