The problem we are trying to solve:
The field lacks practical ways to measure sustainability and to learn quickly from diverse efforts. Sound metrics that are globally accepted are imperative if we are to engage the many diverse stakeholders necessary to create systemic change. Just as tools have been standardized to facilitate learning and communication about so many things from weather reports to accounting practices, so too do we need standardized tools to measure and communicate credible sustainability data.
