I am currently Director of Grain Legumes Research Program at ICRISAT, Hyderabad, India. I am also co-leading the preparation of CRP 3.5 Grain Legumes. As Director of Grain Legumes program, I am responsible for setting vision for research and development for mandate legumes, set priorities, prepare research and development plans for execution by a team of around 50 scientists located in Asia and sub-Saharan Africa.
I am also the Coordinator of Cereals and Legumes Asia Network (CLAN) that involves strengthening capacity building of 12 Asian countries. CLAN has bought together scientists from national programs to come together and form "working groups or consortia" to address and solve regional constraints to production. CLAN has also trained more than 3000 scientist from 15 Asian countries in agriculture R&D.
I have worked with ICRISAT for more than 36 years, initially as chickpea breeder.
