Shenggen Fan is the Director General of the International Food Policy Research Institute. After joining IFPRI as a Research Fellow in 1995, he led IFPRI’s program on public investment and later became director of IFPRI’s Development Strategy and Governance Division. Dr. Fan is a leading researcher on pro-poor development strategies in developing countries. He has published widely in the areas of agricultural R&D policy, public investment, transition economies and agricultural development strategies. Dr. Fan received his Ph.D. in applied economics from the University of Minnesota and his MSc. and BSc. from Nanjing Agricultural University, China.
