Dr. Habib Maimuna Abdullahi was born on 11th of January, 1963. She graduated in 1987 as Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. She had her one year compulsory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) from 1987 – 1988 with the Nigerian Police Force Veterinary Clinic, Obalende, Lagos. She also holds a Master Degree in Preventive Veterinary Medicine (MPVM) from University of California, Davis from 2001 – 2002 and a second Master Degree in Business Administration (MBA) from Lagos State University (LASU), Ojo, Lagos from 2004 -2006. She is a fellow of the College of Veterinary Surgeon, Nigeria. Dr. Habib is currently a PhD student at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria and area of interest is Toxigenic Aflatoxins in Poultry food chain.
She joined Federal Department of livestock, Federal Ministry of Agriculture in April, 1989 as a Veterinary Officer II, rose through the ranks to Principal Veterinary Officer (Assistant Director) in 2008. She was head of Nigeria Veterinary Quarantine Services (NVQS) Murtala Mohammed International (MMIA) Airport 1992 to 2000, moved to Apapa Wharf as the head in 2002 to 2007 She was later transferred to Nigerian Agricultural Quarantine Services (NAQS) after harmonization of plant, animal and aquatic quarantine services of Federal Ministry of Agriculture in 2007 as Deputy Zonal Officer (South West Zone). In 2012, she was posted to NAQS headquarters to take charge of Post entry animal inspection and surveillance in Nigeria.
Dr. Habib is a member of many organizations like Nigerian Veterinary Medical Association, Mycotoxicology Society of Nigeria, African Women in Science, African Mycotoxin Network, Society for International Mycotoxin, African women in Agricultural Research and Development, Society for Applied Microbiology, Organization for Women in Science for the Developing Countries and African Women Entrepreneurs. Dr. Habib is married to Alhaji Abdullahi Habib and blessed with seven children.
