I am pleased to enclose my CV for your consideration. Hereunder I highlight some salient elements of my expertise and a selected summary of relevant assignments completed.
§ In Senegal as Chair of the Département des Sciences Économiques et Sociologie Rural of the the Institut national du développement rural, I designed a curriculum to provide a culturally-sensitive and ecosystem-based knowledge to inform students on the issues associated with agricultural growth with special reference to food production systems. I taught courses on the economics of project evaluation with special reference to irrigation and on-farm investments, the organization and management of irrigation districts, and methods for monitoring rural development projects. Jointly with the Department of Agricultural Engineering, I prepared practicums on sites managed by State organizations (Société nationale d’aménagement et d’exploitation des terres du delta du fleuve Sénégal et les vallées du fleuve Sénégal et de la Falémé) to introduce students to the practicalities of initiating technological packages to small holders in the sites of Niandane, Ndiawara and Podor. The students’ final grades were based largely on their performances in the field and ensuing report.
§ Regarding agricultural/rural development expertise, I command 20 years of worldwide experience in rural/agricultural development; irrigation & drainage infrastructure development; economic feasibility of on-farm investments; agricultural training and extension; agro-forestry development; the participation of women in agriculture development; and project monitoring & evaluation.
§ In the context of thinking globally and acting interculturally, through the Centre for Intercultural Learning of the Canadian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, I have led training sessions on historically-driven institutional differences between Canada and Bolivia to enable the Canadian aborigine youth to contribute to Bolivian development programmes linked to gender equality, health, early education and agriculture with Canadian funding.
