The Al-Sumait Prize worth $1,000,000 (One million US dollars) has been introduced based on an initiative of His Highness the Amir of the State of Kuwait to honor, the late, Dr Abdul Rahman Al-Sumait . The prize is to recognize, reward and honor individuals or institutions who have helped to advance economic and social development, human resources development and infrastructure on the African continent.
Food Security has been selected for the Prize in 2016.
A Search & Nomination Committee for the Prize has been formed and requested to solicit nominations from individuals and institutions who through their work and innovations in R&D have made significant contributions to food security in Africa as described on the nominations page of the Al-Sumait Prize website.
The deadline for nominations is May 31 2016.
