The multi-stakeholder consultation on inclusive digital agriculture for the Asia Pacific region, under the GFAR Collective Action on Inclusive Digital Agriculture, will take place on 21^st and 22^nd of February 2023 as a virtual workshop.

The consultation is co-organized by the Asia-Pacific Association of Agricultural Research Institution (APAARI), the Asian Farmers’ Association (AFA) and GFAR, with participation from partner country members (Bangladesh, Bhutan, Sri lanka, India, Iran, Samoa, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea, Lao PDR, Vietnam and Thailand).

The consultation workshop is open to all stakeholders in Asia Pacific who want to learn from and contribute to the activities taking place in this Collective Action. The action aims at identifying good practices to ensure that small-scale producers are empowered to meaningfully participate in the design and governance of digital solutions, and in the negotiation of related data practices and business models. The action will also lead to the participatory elaboration of a Farmers’ declaration on inclusive digital agriculture.

During the workshop:

1) APAARI and AFA will showcase the results of the farmer-centric survey conducted to assess opportunities and challenges encountered by farmers and producers’ organizations in the adoption of digital technologies, especially smallholder farmers, in the Asia Pacific region.

2) Participating country members (Bangladesh, Bhutan, Sri lanka, India, Iran, Samoa, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea, Lao PDR, Vietnam and Thailand) will present the good practices adopted in the country to address the priority issues in agriculture value chain in the Asia Region.

3) Agribusinesses, agri start-ups, technology organizations, Academia and Research institutions will illustrate some relevant case studies.

4) Participants will create multi-disciplinary working groups around the broad thematic areas identified.
