Planting Promise is a small, dynamic charity running three primary schools in Sierra Leone.  Since it was founded in 2008 by young social entrepreneur, Rocco Falconer, Planting Promise has also set up and run a number of farming and food processing enterprises, the proceeds of which have benefitted local communities –  generating income, providing hundreds of employment opportunities as well as helping fund our schools.

Purpose of the Role

The role will report to the Chief Executive (UK) and will have responsibility for:

Oxfam-UK is accepting proposals from researchers around the world for its third round of call for proposals to conduct evidence syntheses on the topics of market support interventions and pastoralist livelihoods in humanitarian crises.

The Humanitarian Evidence Programme is currently accepting proposals to conduct the review listed below:

What is the impact of different market support interventions on household food security in humanitarian crises?

What is the impact of food aid on pastoralist livelihoods in humanitarian crises?

 

The United Nations Democracy Fund (UNDEF) invites civil society organizations to apply for funding for projects to advance and support democracy during the annual proposal window, which opens 15 November. Grants are open to: Civil Society Organizations, NGOs, Independent and Constitutional Bodies, Global and Regional inter-government bodies.

Grants Range

UNDEF projects are two years long with project grants ranging from $100,000 to $300,000.

Focus Areas

Under the policy guidance and the general supervision of the Assistant Director-General, Agriculture and Consumer Protection Department, the Director of the Plant Production and Protection Division oversees and facilitates the design and evolution of strategies for sustainable crop production intensification, of policies, methodologies and field projects in crop production and protection and crop-sector analysis.S/he also is responsible for managing and promoting exchange of sector-relevant knowledge.
