Development of global partnerships for fish genetics research: a success story

This paper describes the success of the project in developing methods for genetic enhancement
of tropical finfish through partnership among ICLARM (IARC), National Aquatic Research
Systems in Asia (NARS), an advanced scientific institution from Norway (ASI), farmers, donors
(Annex 1), how the different partnerships evolved, the roles played by each of the partners, the
globalization of the outputs from a project undertaken in one country and the lessons learned in
the process.
