Ajit Maru is Senior Officer for GFAR’s theme on Agricultural Knowledge for All. He is an Indian National. Prior to joining GFAR, Ajit has served the International Service for National Agricultural Research (ISNAR), the Dhirubhai Ambani Institute for Information and Communications Technology (DA-IICT), the National Academy of Agricultural Research Management, the National Dairy Development Board and the Central Sheep and Wool Research Institute in India. Ajit has a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine and has been involved in animal health research.

Dr. in Agronomy and Agr. Engineering (Dr. Ingeniero Agronomo, Politech. Univ. Madrid). -researcher on protected cultivation of vegetable and ornamental crops; ecophysiology, soilless culture and hydroponics; plant nutrition and fertigation; -extensive work on trainig technical advisors in horticulture in developing countries; -work with ONGs for developing simplified soilless culture techniques for producing vegetables at home, with social disadvataged people, women at risk of exclusion, people under drug adiction treatment, urban vegetable gardens, etc.
