2023 marks a significant milestone as it has been 20 years since the establishment of HarvestPlus and the introduction of biofortification—a technique that enhances the nutritional value of crops through selective breeding. In light of this, a thought-provoking dialogue between two distinguished speakers will take place, centering around the question:
"Is Biofortification delivering on its promise to improve lives with nutrient-enriched crops?"

Lynn Brown, a postgraduate-trained economist specializing in gender, food and nutrition policy, social protection, agriculture, and rural development, will contribute her expertise. She possesses extensive experience in Africa and Asia, having spent two years managing the World Bank's nutrition portfolio in Bangladesh. Lynn Brown is currently the Director of Policy, Strategy, and the Africa region at HarvestPlus, hosted by IFPRI, and a member of the CGIAR consortium. She has authored numerous research papers, book chapters, and co-edited a book on gender and structural adjustment.
Dr. Jeremy Cherfas, a science writer and podcaster, has dedicated his career to exploring topics related to food, nutrition, agriculture, and development. He is a co-founder of the Agricultural Biodiversity Weblog, a platform that has been sharing information since 2006. Additionally, his podcast, Eat This Podcast, has been nominated twice for a James Beard Award. Dr. Cherfas previously served as a Communications Officer at Bioversity International until his retirement in 2013. He continues to reside in Rome, actively contributing to the field.
