General objectives: 1) To help alleviate poverty and improve food security for more than 80 million people in 86 countries who depend directly on coconut production and processing for their livelihood.
2) To increase the productivity of coconut farms producing coconuts for home consumption and local
and export markets in an environmentally sustainable manner; 3) To foster the development of improved coconut varieties with a wide genetic base and consumer acceptability and to disseminate these varieties to farmers through participating NARS; 4) To strengthen and stimulate partnerships among stakeholders of the coconut community to increase the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of global coconut research efforts.
