FARA showcases its legacy product at the Humidtropics Marketplace

Humidtropics is the integrated systems research for development program designed and implemented from 2012 to 2016 by the Consultative Group for International Agricultural Research (CGIAR). This program is led by the International Institute for Tropical Agriculture (IITA) and its partner organisations in Africa, Asia, and South America’s Humidtropics.

For the closing of the Humidtropics program 4year activities, IITA in collaboration with the Forum for Agricultural Research in Africa (FARA), and other partner organisations, organised from 15th to 17th November 2016, at IITA – Ibadan (Nigeria), a market place for the presentation and selling of the experiences, results and legacy products generated by stakeholders during the implementation of the program.

At this market place, FARA presented and promoted two main products – its Humidtropics legacy product, a book on the “Facilitation of Research for Development in Innovation Platforms”, and a framework for the mainstreaming of Multi-stakeholders’ Perspective and Practice (MSP) into country processes aimed at sustaining the Comprehensive African Agricultural Development Program (CAADP)’s momentum in Africa. These legacy products were well appreciated by participants of the market place.

Skillful facilitation of multi-stakeholders’ processes (MSP) has been acknowledged by all participants as key to the success of Integrated Systems Research for Development, Systems and Sites Integration, and Innovation and Research for Development Platforms. The mainstreaming of MSP into CAADP momentum sustaining processes has also been recommended by Humidtropics market players.
