A Case Study of the Yanadi and Yrukula Tribal Communities in Andhra Pradesh State, India

The story of the Yanadi and Yrukala tribes, two of India’s Scheduled Tribes living in Andhra Pradesh State, shows how the impact of land tenure insecurity amid climate change is magnified among people who are extremely poor, have limited livelihood opportunities, lack education, and whose recovery from climate disasters relies on the charity of strangers. At the same time, this story underlies the critical role of civil society organizations, where government support is insufficient and slow.

FARA is seeking to hire an Expert in Agribusiness and gender.

Reporting to the Cluster Leader/Innovation Systems Specialist, the successful candidate shall inter-alia perform the following roles and responsibilities:

·       Provide technical leadership and act as a technical resource for integrating gender and social inclusion approaches into all FARA projects.

·       Promote the development and operationalization of FARA’s agribusiness and gender strategies.

In its commitment to collaboration and engagement, the Global Forum on Agricultural Research and Innovation (GFAR/GFAiR) organized the Progress and Prospects meeting on December 5, 2023. The virtual event served as a platform to update members, partners, funders and stakeholders on recent strides in GFAR's initiatives.

The collaborative effort between Digital Coffee Future (DCF) and GFAR, known as the Digital Origin Education Program (DOEP), aimed to empower coffee-producing associations and enterprises in Guatemala, Honduras, Colombia, and Peru through education on digitalization. The program provided six weeks of live, virtual classes and eight weeks of individual support to help participants develop digitalization plans tailored to their specific needs, whether related to farm-level management or marketing and sales.

Chemonics International, under the USAID Climate Finance for Development Accelerator (CFDA), seeks applications to mobilize private sector financing for technologies that advance climate mitigation and adaptation goals across the Caribbean region.
