On 15 October 2024, GFAiR Secretariat held the regular bi-annual Progress and Prospects meeting from 1:00 to 2.30 PM, CEST at the Bioversity International and CIAT Headquarters in Rome, Italy. This meeting was conducted in hybrid form with the presence of the Director General of Bioversity International and CIAT, a GFAiR Steering Committee Member as well as the distinguished guests from the University of California.
The Concept Note was developed b a Task Force composed of members and partners of the Global Forum on Agricultural Research (GFAR): the Alliance of Bioversity-CIAT (ABC), Asian Farmers’ Association for Sustainable Rural Development (AFA), Asia Pacific Association of Agricultural Research Institutions (APAARI), Self Employed Women’s Association (SEWA), and M. S. Swaminathan Research Foundation (MSSRF), following the local level consultations in 4 districts in India, and a Partners’ Workshop in
Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India, held May 2023.
We are pleased to announce that Agriculture for Development journal No.47 (Ag4Dev47) has just been published. It focuses on a critical topic for our turbulent times: 'Supporting agrifood systems in developing countries in times of crisis and conflict: drawing lessons from experience to inform programmes, policy and practice'.
This collaborative article, featured in issue 47 of Ag4dev (Agriculture for Development) journal, underscores the importance of global cooperation and innovative approaches in addressing the complex challenges facing agriculture and food security. A survey was conducted in the context of the Collective Action (CA) of the Global Forum on Agricultural Research and Innovation (GFAR) on Transforming Higher Education in Agriculture, in collaboration with international partners. It assisted the CA in harvesting and documenting the ongoing efforts to support the transformation of higher education for improved agrifood system transformation.
