SciELO is a special program of the São Paulo State Research Foundation (FAPESP), started in 1998, to publish online national and thematic collections of open access, quality scientific journals from Latin American, Caribbean, Portugal, Spain and South Africa. The program is run and funded through research projects executed through the Foundation of the Federal University of São Paulo (Fap-UNIFESP).
