I completed my undergraduate degree in Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry from the Tribhuvan University in Nepal. At the University of Manitoba, I familiarized himself with well-equipped research facilities related to animal farming, feed production and biotechnology while completing my Master’s in Animal Science on swine nutrition. During this time, I developed a keen interest in animal nutrition, health and behaviour research. Currently, I am a PhD student in the Department of Animal Biosciences at University of Guelph. The goal of my PhD research is to better understand the preferences of laying hens for different litter substrates by observing their behaviour. To this end, my project studies how hens make decisions (as individuals and as a group) and how various gases influence their behaviour. I hope is that my findings will help advance our understanding of laying hens in order to improve health and welfare in the poultry industry. Apart from research, I am a big fan of football and likes to play soccer in my spare time.
