GFAR and its partners will be organizing a poster competition as part of the Science Forum 2009 Wageningen, The Netherlands on 16-17 June 2009.
Theme: ICTs: Enabling Agricultural Science to be a Social Endeavor
We are interested in presenting how Information and Communications Technologies (ICTs) are enabling agricultural science to be a social endeavor by communities rather something done in laboratories by professional scientists.
GFAR invites submissions from all ARD stakeholders for the Poster Competition.
A panel of judges will select the top posters for display, presentation and sponsorship for one presenter to participate in the Science Forum 2009.
The top 10 poster submissions will be displayed at the Science Forum and authors will be invited to participate in the Science Forum 2009.
All Posters judged representing the theme ICTs enabling Agricultural Science to be a Social Endeavor with their abstracts and handouts may be published through GFAR, either in print and/or electronically.
One presenter from the top poster will be sponsored to participate in the Science Forum.
Poster submissions selected for display at the Science Forum will be supported for their preparation (up to an amount of USD 100) and delivery to the Science Forum 2009 at Wageningen.
Guidelines for submissions:
1. The submission must address the theme "ICTs: Enabling Agricultural Science to be a Social Endeavor” It must present evidence of ICTs enabling agricultural science to be a social endeavor in which agricultural communities participate and contribute to agricultural science.
2. The submission must be based on activities that contribute to research, innovation, technology generation or development related to agriculture done by the participating Farmers organization, NGO, Private Sector organization, International Agricultural Research Centres, Advanced Research Institutes, Regional ForumsF/Sun-Regional Forums, National Agricultural Research Systems or a Donor agency or through a partnership among these stakeholders.
3. The poster must indicate:
4. All stakeholders are encouraged to submit successful ARD experiences, especially Farmers Organisations, womens groups, agribusiness and NGOs. Initial submissions of the Poster as a A4 sized Adobe PDF file with an abstract of not more than 400 words describing the ICT activity should reach the GFAR Secretariat by April 6, 2009. The GFAR Secretariat will convey acceptance of the Poster for display and invitation to present the poster at the Science Forum by 18 April 2009.

b. Each poster should include the Title of the presentation in large letters and the organization where the activity was conducted at the Top Center of the poster. The Authors name(s) should be at the Right Bottom Corner.
c. Materials must be easily read at a distance of 4 feet (1.5 m).
d. The abstract of the work should be submitted separately. The lead presenter’s name should be underlined in the abstract only.
e. It is suggested that printed copies of the selected posters for display be available for distribution to visitors.
f. Handouts related to poster presentations are also encouraged
