GFAR's Collective Action on Forgotten Foods and subsequent landmark document Global Manifesto on Forgotten Foods have been mentioned in the Science and Innovations for Food Systems Transformation book. The chapter on Marginal Areas and Indigenous People Priorities for Research and Action delves into the need to diversify our food systems and offers the Manifesto as one of the priorities and proposed actions to achieve this.
The Science and Innovations for Food Systems Transformation book was compiled with the findings of the Scientific Group of the United Nations Food Systems Summit 2021.
Brought together by a mandate from the Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations, 28 experts from across scientific networks of institutions formed the Scientific Group who worked along with several research partners. They brought together their global expertise and leading scientific views to bring in views across all groups of society, from indigenous peoples, women, producers and so many more.
The chapters of the book provide science- and research-based, state-of-the-art, solution-oriented knowledge and evidence to inform the transformation of contemporary food systems in order to achieve more sustainable, equitable and resilient systems.
