I will be the director of the CRP 3.3 "Global Rice Science Partnership" as of September 1, 2012. I am currently Head of the Crop and Environmental Sciences Division and the Leader of the sustainable rice program of GRISP at IRRI. My background is on research on water management in agriculture and sustainable rice production systems.

Licenciate Veterinay Medicine. Agricultural Engineer PhD. I have been employed at investigation and management of the agrarian investigation. At present I am the Director of the Spanish National Institute for Agricultural anf Food Researcha and Technology

My career as a scientist in the field of Biotechnology and Plant Pathology favored the cooperation with other countries, especially with those growing citrus, both in Latin-America (Mexico, Costa Rica, Honduras, Colombia, Peru, Brazil, Chile and Argentina), North Africa (Egypt, Tunisia and Morocco), Asia (India, Nepal, Vietnam and Bhutan) and the French Polynesia. Together with scientists of INRA and CIRAD, I participated in missions addressing the control of the “maladie des feuilles cassantes” of date palms, and the phloem necrosis disease of Hevea.
