The following proposed activities will be undertaken as facilitating activities developed by
GFAR in the field of Information and Communication Management (ICM). They will be
developed in close relationships with FAO, hosting GFAR, and in particular with the Waicent outreach programme, with which previous cooperations have been built.
1) Pre-consultation discussions. 2) E-Conferences. 3) Regional and inter-regional Workshops. 4) Post-Workshop Activities. 5) Launching of regional strategies. 6) Backstopping activities for RAIS

The Project DURAS (Promotion du Développement Durable dans les systèmes de Recherche
Agricole du Sud) is a three-year project funded by the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It aims
to contribute to strengthening the involvement and enhancing the scientific potential of southern
stakeholders in agricultural research for sustainable development (ARSD), particularly in Africa,

A specific geographical coverage: SSA, WANA and 3 countries of APAARI (Viet-Nam, Laos and Cambodia). Two main Goals: To launch competitive grants on ARSD topics, managed by RF/SRF to develop North-South partnerships.To support the basic metabolism of the

During the period from May 2002 to August 2003, Ms. Fatima Ribeiro (a Brazilian researcher from IAPAR) carried out activities as DMC facilitator, hosted by CIRAD. Her workplan, approved by the interim steering committee on May 2002., is synthesized as below:

An ICT Expert Consultation on the Development of Second Phase of APARIS and Meeting of APARIS Steering Committee were held during 24-25 October 2002 at Bangkok, Thailand. There were 32 participants representing member NARS, associate members, supporting organizations such as FAO and GFAR. Mrs. Prapaisri Pitakpaiwan, acting DG, DOA, Thailand inaugurated the Expert Consultation being the chief guest. The deliberations of the Expert Consultation were conducted in five technical sessions and a plenary session beside the inaugural session.
