In March 2018, Farm Radio International hosted an online eDiscussion for radio broadcasters, bringing together more than 100 people from 24 countries.

Every year FRI brings together their broadcasting partners for an online eDiscussion. This is an opportunity for broadcasters to share their questions and experiences with each other, so that they can learn from each other and subject-matter specialists.

Ten years ago, Farm Radio International had the idea to start Farm Radio Weekly: an online agricultural news service that would regularly provide radio broadcasters with stories and resources for their radio programs. In this way, farm radio broadcasters would easily have access to content that they could put straight on air – and their rural listeners would benefit from news stories about farmer innovations.

In an interview with an Egyptian TV news channel , Dr. El-Kaffass of GFAR Secretariat discussed the necessity for a new paradigm of transformational learning in order to qualify youth to overcome the challenges of the present and the future in agricultural development, and to realize the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

This month, GFAR Secretariat had the pleasure of welcoming, at FAO Headquarters in Rome, a delegation of 16 researchers about to embark on a world tour examining the future of food and food-related technologies. The students are participating in the “Food Innovation Global Mission”, a pioneering mission taking place from 12th May to 12th July, organized by the Future Food Institute (FFI). FFI is an international non-profit organisation, founded in Italy, and a leader in innovation in the agri-food sector.
