The South-South Cooperation Forum held at Park Village Hotel, Kathmandu, Nepal on 14-16 December 2017 was a success with over 70 participants consisting of farmer leaders, representatives of farmers’ and fishers’ organizations, government officials, scholars from South Asian countries as well as international development partners in attendance.

The West and Central African Council for Agricultural Research and Development (CORAF) was created in 1987 to “improve the efficiency and effectiveness of small-scale producers and to promote the agribusiness sector.” As Africa’s largest sub-regional research organization, CORAF works with 23 national agricultural research systems in the Sahelian, Coastal, and Central regions of Africa to improve the agricultural research and economic growth in the sub-region.

Food and nutrition security, including the need to mitigate shocks affecting the food system, remain important issues for the Eurasian region. Now more than ever policy makers in Eurasia need updated information and relevant evidence to design and implement effective and timely policy measures that will ensure food security and nutrition for all.

A delegation from CAAS visited several research agencies from November 22^nd to December 1^st, 2017, to open up official cooperation between CAAS and these institutions.

The IYFF +10 World Coordination Committee, leader of the campaign for the declaration of the International Year of Family Farming 2014 and the Decade now, is developing an Action Plan to be presented to FAO, IFAD and Governments.
