Season’s Greetings from GFAR Chair Bongiwe Njobe
Collective action – the way of the future!
Dear Friends and Colleagues
The European Union together with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation pledgedmore than €500 million over the next three years for research and innovation in agriculture.
The EU, which is the largest donor for development aid, and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, which is the larger philanthropist organisation in this field, will work together on a joint initiative to drive research and technical and organisational innovations across agricultural and food systems in developing countries.
Using GFAR's collective action principles as a basis, Dr. Holderness called on all those concerned with the future of agriculture to urgently engage with wider society as a collective movement for change, working together through concrete actions to tackle these "wicked” and complex problems that no one can resolve by themselves.
Over the last four years, GFAR has played a leading role in mobilizing awareness and learning about farmers rights, to help farmers continue to benefit from the crop varieties and traits they have developed over generations, both in their own use and when used for further breeding.
Due to an administrative issue, FAO, this vacancy is being reopened. It is a professional position, not a consultancy as previously advertised. All who have applied previously are encouraged to please re-submit their applications to the position number in I-recruitment so that they can be considered as candidates. Applications will be accepted until COB Monday, 18 December 2017.
