The World Food Prize is the foremost international award recognizing the accomplishments of individuals who have advanced human development by improving the quality, quantity, or availability of food in the world.
Sir Fazle Hasan Abed, a distinguished non-profit founder and chairperson who has dedicated his life’s work to fighting poverty, was awarded the World Food Prize on Oct. 15, among an international audience at the Iowa State Capitol in Des Moines.

Planting Promise is a small, dynamic charity running three primary schools in Sierra Leone. Since it was founded in 2008 by young social entrepreneur, Rocco Falconer, Planting Promise has also set up and run a number of farming and food processing enterprises, the proceeds of which have benefitted local communities – generating income, providing hundreds of employment opportunities as well as helping fund our schools.
