In a momentous ceremony held on March 20, Tshering Wangchuk, the President of the Horticulture Association of Bhutan (HAoB), was honored with the prestigious Dr APJ Abdul Kalam International Award for 2023. This esteemed accolade acknowledges individuals who have made remarkable contributions to the field of agriculture and farming.

GFAR’s Chair, Dr. Ravi Khetarpal, announced that GFAR’s Steering Committee on 29.6.2023 unanimously confirmed the decision taken on 2.3.23 to move GFAR from FAO to IFAD / Bioversity International. He expressed GFAR’s sincere gratitude to FAO for its hosting for many years and also to both co-founders of GFAR - FAO and IFAD - for co-facilitating GFAR.

The International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center (CIMMYT) as a member of CGIAR and pursuing its mission to apply science to sustainably increase crop production and improve livelihoods, is establishing a breeding program for groundnut in Eastern and Southern Africa. This program will be designed and implemented in close association with national programs and other partners.
