ICRA: Courses in agricultural education and innovation for researchers and professionals

The International Centre for development oriented Research in Agriculture (ICRA) is offering two 3-week courses for which registration has just opened, one targeted at lecturers and researchers working in tertiary agricultural education, and the other targeted at professionals involved in facilitating and coaching rural innovation.

A few NFP scholarships are available to attend these courses.

Call for articles: Valuing underutilised crops

As family farming, nutrition and agrobiodiversity are increasingly put in the spotlight, Farming Matters focuses its attention on ‘underutilised’ crops. These are plant species that have been used for centuries or even millennia as food, fibre, fodder, oil or medicine, but are no longer very common. Many of these crops are of great value for nutrition, climate resilience and risk diversification.

Ahmedabad: By 2030, the western Indian states, including Gujarat, Maharashtra, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, will have 65% urban population and economy will be highly industrialized.There will not just be demand for more food but accessible, affordable, safe and nutritious food.

International experts and local stakeholders took up the issues at the three-day national workshop "Forward Thinking for Agricultural Development in Western India" at Sardarkrushinagar Dantiwada Agricultural University (SDAU) that concluded on February 11.
